The initiative
A study to establish the company
The initiative asks Qatar Tourism to consider adopting a study to establish the Qatar Cable Car Tourism Company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and relevant private-sector stakeholders.
What is proposed
- • Destination-specific panoramic cable-car experiences across Qatar.
- • Common service expertise, maintenance planning and destination partnerships.
- • Digital distribution and a clear future booking journey.
- • A pilot selected through feasibility and stakeholder review.
What is not established
- • No incorporation, operating licence or concession.
- • No government ownership, funding or signed partnership.
- • No route distances, times, capacities, prices or opening dates.
- • No one continuous cable line connecting all locations.
Strategic context
Why partnerships shape the proposal
A separate official waterfront initiative published by Qatar Tourism informs this proposal's emphasis on partnerships and connected visitor experiences. Al Safliya Island in that announcement is not Al Maha Island.
Proposed company functions
Route development
Station and customer operations
Technical services and maintenance planning
Commercial partnerships
Digital services and distribution
Each route requires a viable business case and formal agreements. Funding shares, land values, revenues and capital costs remain to be studied.
